An act of kindness takes our breath away
Papa Dave and the family had the biggest surprise when our wonderful new friends from the Netherlands returned for a second visit to Happy House.
Eric, Diana and Noor arrived at school in a large people carrier which was parked up while they met Papa who showed them around our school. Eric insisted Papa should accompany him to their vehicle where he revealed two new large automatic washing machines.
Having previously toured Happy House where the aunties were hand washing, Eric had commented on this and Papa told them how he was about to order two new washers, which would not have the spin cucle of an auto machine. Eric and Diana remarked that it would still be hard work for the aunties but Papa assured him they were devoted and caring people who would do what was needed.
Through our appeal and the generosity of the people who donated we had just about raised enough to buy them.
So it was a complete surprise to receive two new machines, guaranteed, and with detergent too just out of the blue.
Kindness comes in so many forms, as a charity we are fortunate to know this, but this was overwhelming for Papa who was so very touched by the act of people who, a few days earlier, would have been strangers.
We thank them from the bottom of our hearts- our laundry aunties are over the moon!
Papa has written to all who donated to the appeal and they have agreed that their money can be used as a contingency. Huge thanks to all of them.
